  • Progressive side wagers: Games such as Caribbean Stud Poker often contain one of these. You usually put a wager (a dollar is the normal amt.) to try to win a bonus jackpot that could reach twenty-five thousand dollars. Though huge jackpots like these are particularly appealing, they are also very hard to succeed. You might have to hit a Royal Flush in order to hit this bet. Also, imagine this- you play 20 hands and lay the side wager each time. That’s $20 you should have used towards the actual game wager instead of a sucker wager. Just think about what you might have been able to win at a bet with more favorable odds utilizing that 20 dollars.
  • Individual number wagers in Roulette: This is particularly true for American Roulette. Why? American Roulette has two zeroes on the wheel, unlike European Roulette, which has only one. This shifts the complete house advantage from twopercent with a single zero wheel to a whopping 5.26% in American. The individual number wager has just a 1 in 38 chance of winning, which are very big odds indeed. Try even-odd or black-red bets as a substitute which have a much lower house edge.
  • Keno: Any variation of Keno, and regardless of how you gamble on it, the casino advantage can be a huge twenty-five percent. No, that is not a typo. Due to the large amount of numbers you have to select, it’s not advisable to play Keno to often. A couple of times for enjoyment, maybe. But do not spend all your cash on it or you’ll immediately discover yourself beaten.
